The Smile Campaign
The need for proper dental treatment and proper diagnosis of dental treatment is essential for patients with Sickle Cell Disease or the Sickle Cell Trait. Dental treatment or even access to dental treatment is sometimes a challenge for those with Sickle Cell Disease. Our goal is to provide dental care for sickle cell patients who are suffering from episodes that affect their dental hygiene and their smile. With your donation you will help us put a smile on the faces of those who need it the most.
SMILE OF THE YEAR
Walter'S Story
To whom it may concern, I am introducing my story to the public not only to assist me with my issues but also to help inform others with my condition. My story started when I was young when I was informed after suffering with bone degeneration in my hip which gave me my first diagnosis of sickle cell thalassemia. I knew my life would never be normal. Due to the many years of a specific diet as well as a cocktail of medication I began to suffer bone deterioration as well as tooth decay. Not only was I suffering tooth decay as well as tooth loss, I realize that my confidence and natural social abilities also begin to suffer. Not only was I losing my teeth and my wonderful smile, but I was also losing my ability to capitalize on my social prowess, and I have a severe loss of confidence due to my tooth loss. I have worked hard over the years to get myself back into the workforce as well as my need to contribute to society and give back to my community. Right now, I am looking for the ability to restore my smile, my confidence, and my purpose. I feel my purpose is to give back to the community and teach others in my condition that there is always hope. There is always a need to fight the good fight! - WALTER Donate today in honor of a loved one or someone you know who has Sickle Cell Disease or even the Sickle Cell Trait.
