To help reduce transportation barriers to medical and wellness appointments within the Greater Houston and surrounding areas, the Ride Like A Warrior program is designed to improve access to care, increase appointment attendance, and support sickle cell patients who may face challenges with reliable transportation. Through coordinated non-emergency ride services, patients can travel safely to approved locations: healthcare visits, screenings, treatment appointments, and our community support programs.
Ride assistance is intended only for approved medical, educational, or program-related purposes within the Greater Houston and surrounding areas. Excessive cancellations, no-shows, misuse of services, inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized ride changes may result in denial of future transportation support.

The Potter’s Smile is the only 501c3 in the United States and possibly the world, that addresses the dental issues associated with Sickle Cell Disease and the Sickle Cell Trait.  We are dedicated to dental education, dental research, and access to quality dental treatment.

The exact number of people living with Sickle Cell disease (SCD) or the Sickle Cell Trait (SCT) in the United States of America is unknown. Congress passed the National Sickle Cell Anemia Control Act in 1972, and a law passed in 1974 requiring every child born of color to evaluate SCD. Unfortunately, the states were slow to comply, and it was not until 2006 (32 years later) that ALL states were testing. Now we have generations of people living here in the USA that do not know their sickle cell status. SCD can cause complications such as kidney disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. 
People may have these complications and may not understand why. The culprit could be SCD! Take this simple survey. One of our goals at The Potters Smile is to survey, test and evaluate for SCD. We believe that the cure is in prevention. The more knowledge you have, the more preventive we can become.
